Matariki

Matariki
Purpose-To inform
Audience-Classmates

What is Matariki? Matariki is a maori name for the seven stars that are called the pleiades star cluster. The star cluster is the seven sisters each with maori names. First of all there is Waiti, Waita, Waipunarangi, Tupu-a-nuku, Tupu-a-rangi, and Ururangi. Matariki comes around once a year, it starts to come around on June or July this year 2019 ,Matariki is on the 25th of June but next year it will be on the 13th of July.

What do you do on matariki? On matariki families celebrate matariki by making multiple lists of food,Like Cooking a kai with traditional maori vegetables,Going out and exploring outdoors, Or the adults spend time with their kids in the kitchen, Make goals for the year. You know when matariki is coming when you see the 7 stars arrive in the bright sky in mid-winter.

How was Matariki first created? When Ranginui ,the sky father and papatuanuku , the earth mother were separated by their children the  god of the winds,Called tawhirimatea got incredibly angry, so angry that he ripped out his own eyes and threw them into the heavens. In maori the name for matariki means ‘little eyes’ or ‘Eyes of god’.

Why is Matariki important?A lot of kiwis look forward to matariki. But some people celebrate a different star to  know when winter is close by or is already here and also to restart the maori calendar.Sometimes you often don't see the stars so some New Zealanders celebrate it with their own traditions. But now everyone celebrates Matariki

How to Feel Calm

Explanation Writing: How to feel calm

Thursday 2 May 2019

Purpose:To Explain
Audience:Anyone
Plan:

Wednesday 8 May 2019

Do you ever feel angry or overwhelmed?
Most times when your really frustrated and annoyed
so much you seem to always want to smash things or throw things like devices around,or
mostly anything you can throw. The second thing that really annoys most people close by is yelling.
Everyone hates when someone is mad at a petty reason and starts to yell.
The third stage is when your face starts to scrunch up and you don't do anything but frown.

Here are some ways to calm yourself down.First of all go to a kit kat corner, and if anybody's
trying to distract you or trying to get your attention try and ignore them.Secondly you flip
the minute timer and keep it close where you can see it.Than you face the wall and maybe
you would start daydreaming to keep yourself calm.

Next you think of your happy places or places you would rather be.Maybe your place
to be could be like outside at home and your lying down on the grass glaring at the
clear blue sky.You might like watching movies you like and eat and eat and eat,
until you can’t eat anymore.

Normally you know when your calm if you start to read when you read you start to read and
in your mind makes it  a reality and that's pretty much being calm. The second thing
you might be doing is riding your bike or scooter either one.Lastly you could
be running around with a ball or just playing around with some of your stuff you might have had for a long time or something you bought for you recently.

B.O.T Letter

Mia
Papakura Central School
09/04/19
Board of trustees

Dear Board of trustees,

Thank you for our new TV’s in Kauri hub and other classes at Papakura
central school.
They are so big that you can see the screen from the far end of the room.
When we first got them they were a struggle but eventually we got the hang of it.
They are amazing that instead of finding it hard to connect all the wires and chords to the TV’s the teachers can just chrome cast it from their laptops.
At the bottom of our TVs they have 4 wheels instead of our old TV with just 2 wheels, but i don't think the teachers would want to move it because they are fine just where they already are.
These TV’s are a huge upgrade from our other smaller, confusing TV.
Plus the new TV’s are so much easier to understand and if everybody in the classroom are doing their work sensibly the teachers would put on some music to reward us.
This year is going to go great just because of those TV’s but also so many more things that yous provide for our school.
So this is my Thanks to the Board Of Trustees.

Warm Regards,

Mia
