Letter for the Matariki glow show

Matariki Glow Show
Purpose-To describe
Audience-Anyone

To The Matariki Glow Show people

The matariki glow show was awesome, can you believe that only 4 people played a bunch of characters?Well they did ,They made a perfect and entertaining show explaining all about matariki and it was even glow in the dark so it made it more exciting. So I would like to thank the 4 people who performed for us for doing an amazing job ,and to the person who made it from paying $10 per child to just a gold coin donation.
The stage was pitch black and you could hear the students whispering to each other. It was a really cool experience to see.I was a little sad for some of the year 5s because they went last year.My favourite part about the show was Tutu the Taniwha parts because he was probably the funniest character in the show. I want to thank the people that welcomed us into the theatre, paid for our tickets to just a gold coin donation, performed the show for us. I was amazed at first sight especially when I found out that it was glow in the dark but when I found out that the whole school was coming I was wondering how they were all gonna fit and I got surprised to find out they could actually fit in. Thank you for letting us see that cool show.

Matariki

What is Matariki? Matariki is a maori name for the seven stars that are called the pleiades star cluster. The star cluster is the seven sisters each with maori names. First of all there is Waiti, Waita, Waipunarangi, Tupu-a-nuku, Tupu-a-rangi, and Ururangi. Matariki comes around once a year, it starts to come around on June or July this year 2019 ,Matariki is on the 25th of June but next year it will be on the 13th of July.

What do you do on matariki? On matariki families celebrate matariki by making multiple lists of food,Like Cooking a kai with traditional maori vegetables,Going out and exploring outdoors, Or the adults spend time with their kids in the kitchen, Make goals for the year. You know when matariki is coming when you see the 7 stars arrive in the bright sky in mid-winter.

How was Matariki first created? When Ranginui ,the sky father and papatuanuku , the earth mother were separated by their children the  god of the winds,Called tawhirimatea got incredibly angry, so angry that he ripped out his own eyes and threw them into the heavens. In maori the name for matariki means ‘little eyes’ or ‘Eyes of god’.

Why is Matariki important?A lot of kiwis look forward to matariki. But some people celebrate a different star to  know when winter is close by or is already here and also to restart the maori calendar.Sometimes you often don't see the stars so some New Zealanders celebrate it with their own traditions. But now everyone celebrates Matariki
